The film describes the events of 7 December, 1988, when the earthquake in Armenia devastated almost half of the country. The towns of Spitak, Leninakan, Kirovakan, Stepanavan along with 300 other settlements lay in ruins, the death toll rose to 25 thousand people, 19 thousand became disabled, more than half a million lost their homes.
The story of 45-year-old Konstantin Berezhnoy and 20-year-old Robert Melkonyan unfolds against the backdrop of the events of that natural disaster.
They used to know each other, but in an ironic turn of events, they chance to meet again. Many years ago, Robert's parents were killed in a car accident through Berezhnoy’s fault. Konstantin spent several years in prison, while little Robert was left in the care of his relatives. It happens so that Berezhnoy returns home on the very day of the devastating earthquake and his wife and children are waiting for him. However, Robert, who never forgave Konstantin for his parents’ death, is waiting for him too…
By a twist of fate, they both find themselves in the same rescue squad, though they can’t recognize each other at first glance.
